Benji Farrow Sweeps Best Trick and Rider’s Choice
After a week of solid riding for Ben and Gabe Ferguson, the dynamic duo proved that two is really better than one, winning the first ever doubles contest at Red Bull Double Pipe. The Ferguson’s used every inch of the course during the jam format competition, synchronizing three tandem transfers, a frontside 720 transfer and a backside rodeo transfer on the 18’ spine to show off their creativity and technical ability in order to take the win.
“Our strategy going into the doubles contest was just to have fun, and we definitely did that,” said Ben Ferguson, the elder of the two brothers from Bend, Oregon. The boys started out the top of their run with Ben hitting the channel gap with a Cab double 1080 while Gabe shot through the channel and landed a Cab double 1080 on the opposite superpipe wall.
Benji Farrow, who’s doubles routine with Brett Esser included backside to frontside transfers over the channel, took home both the Rider’s Choice award and Best Trick award for the week as the only competitor to transfer over the 22’ tall channel gap from one superpipe to another. Farrow took home a brand new 2015 Polaris snowmobile for his Best Trick effort.
